In 2003 the school was awarded the Basic Skills Primary
Quality Mark which recognises the school's good work in improving childrens' basic skills in reading, writing, spelling and numberwork.
The School provides a non-denominational
education for children from four to eleven years. It is situated
within spacious grounds at one end of the village of Coychurch.
From the front the building looks much as it would have done in
1896, when it was first opened. The new extension to the rear of
the school, however, provides light airy classrooms opening off
a central corridor.
The school has a large hall over-looking the grassed playing area. The garden area to the side provides an 'outside classroom', which is used to support aspects of the science curriculum. A mobile classroom houses a privately owned playgroup that takes children from the ages of two and a half to four. Most of these children then transfer to the school.
Coychurch Primary School is an English medium school. Classes are organised in mixed ages and mixed abilities.
