The School assists in both academic and social development of its pupils. In addition, it provides a valuable social focus for parents.
School Easter Service - Collection made for a world charity, connections with school work.
Harvest Service - collections of harvest produce for a local charity. All classes take part together with a range of musical groups.
Christmas Concert - collections made for a World appeal. All classes take part, this is the school's major annual production.
Candle Light Concert - a service held at St Crallo's Church, in which all of the children get involved with carol singing, readings and instrumental groups.
Leavers Assembly - Assembly mainly staged by Class 4, supported by the whole school.
The act of collective worship is an important social event in the school day, permitting a more formal relationship between pupils, and pupils and staff to be explored. During these services children practice public performance, solo musicians and instrumental groups accompany singing, children also introduce hymns, give readings and lead prayers. Speakers and musicians are selected from a school rota, giving everyone a fair opportunity.
Each class holds a separate assembly on Monday morning. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings the school gathers in the hall between 09:05 and 09:25. On Friday the whole school meets for the Awards Assembly at 3:00 pm.
The Headteacher is responsible for leading assemblies on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Each class teacher leads their own class in worship for the class assemblies, and the class teachers share responsibility for leading the school assemblies on Tuesdays.
We are grateful for the support of the Reverend Hugh Allen, who is regularly involved with aspects of school worship, attends specific services and leads assemblies once every half term. The children take an active part in class and school assemblies.
All children must participate in collective worship unless their parents have exercised their right of withdrawal (1988 Education Reform Act).
Each Friday this school holds an awards assembly. This is aimed at developing the children's sense of community and individual worth. All positive attributes are supported and all the children's hard work through the week is recognised and applauded through House Points and Headteacher's awards. Children's birthdays are celebrated as are the achievements made by children when outside the school, who are given the opportunity to talk about their achievements and show any awards they may have gained.
You are invited to many of the special services and concerts listed above, along with parent-teacher meetings and fund raising events. In addition, the school produces a newsletter every half term. This newsletter outlines all of the events and activities for that period.
Parental concerns are a priority, and the school will always do its best to deal with worries and problems promptly and efficiently. Please assist us in ensuring a secure and safe school environment for all of our children by phoning the school secretary (01656 860256) for an appointment.
Friends of LLangrallo:
This is a group of parents and teachers who support the School by fund
raising activities. A number of social events are held throughout the year,
and the Friends produce their own newsletter.
School Helpers:
There are opportunities for those parents with time to come in and act
as helpers during the school day.
There is also the opportunity to get involved with sports training out of school hours. Coychurch Primary School has an excellent sporting record, winning a number of national prizes over the years, a short training program can equip you to help us retain this record.
